Our Story

Before open MRI’s, before hip replacements and before arthroscopy surgeries, in 1972, Midwest Orthopaedic Institute brought the first Orthopaedic physicians to DeKalb County. Over the years we recruited the brightest and the best physicians with expertise in subspecialty areas such as foot and ankle, shoulder, hand and spine. The practice continues to grow in order to provide the best orthopaedic care available. Recently we brought in the area's first full time rheumatologist to help serve our community’s arthritic and elderly population. Over the years we have succeeded in hiring physicians with world-class credentials and down home bedside manners.

Our state-or-the-art facilities have expanded in order to provide our patients with the most comprehensive care in the area.  Here are a few of the specialized services MOI has available to our patients…

All of the orthopaedic specialists at the institute have gone beyond their specialty training and have completed fellowships to become sub-specialists. We now have Centers of Excellence in foot and ankle, hip and knee, shoulder and elbow, hand, sports-related injuries, total joint replacement and rheumatology. We also have a neurosurgical team that has formed the Center of Excellence in Neurosurgery. This specialized team offers care and treatment for back pain, spine related problems, serious spinal injuries, and disorders of the brain. Our neurosurgical team looks at every available non-surgical option first, but when surgery is necessary, our specially trained team offers the latest in neurosurgical diagnostics and procedures.
